Jean-Paul Thuot CST, R.Ac

A student of the martial arts for over 16 years, Jean-Paul met and became friends with Arnie Lade R.Ac, who showed him the powerful healing tools of Chinese medicine. Arnie Lade is the author of a number of books on acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and energetic healing. Inspired, Jean-Paul went to college for Chinese medicine, as well as studying Craniosacral Therapy with Arnie.

In 1998 Jean-Paul graduated from the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, in Victoria BC. In 2002 he moved to Taiwan with his wife and son, in order to further his understanding of Chinese medicine. After four years’ study in Taiwan he returned to Victoria and began practicing.

Jean-Paul is very excited to be offering Community Acupuncture to the Westshore community!

Jenica Geisler, R.Ac

Jenica grew up in Nelson, BC a small town in the southern interior of the province.  After spending sometime overseas, she returned to Nelson and completed the Doctorate program of Traditional Chinese Medicine at The Academy of Classical and Oriental Sciences (ACOS).  She is registered with the Canadian College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of BC (CTCMA) as a Registered Acupuncturist.

Jenica places sincere interest in her patient’s concerns and is motivated to empower her patients with the tools they need to take their well-being and health into their own hands.

She recognizes the value of the community acupuncture model and the many ways in which it can enhance the community it supports.  She is very excited to be a part of the team here at Stillpoint and looks forward to seeing her community continue to thrive.

I believe strongly in the mind, body and spirit connection and the power of nurturing, healthy relationships within community. It is my belief that ultimately it is the strength of the relationship between the client and the counsellor which is key to supporting individuals in the transition from discomfort to a sense of balance and healthy change. I greatly respect the difficulty in the struggle.

Women’s health issues, throughout the lifespan; grief and loss; family issues and life transitions are areas of particular interest for me. I very much enjoy working with families, as I find that many of the issues which challenge them can often be attributed to individual patterns developed during an earlier phase of life. Once understood, practical interventions can often alleviate the stressors which impact the family.

I have over 20 years experience working with individuals, couples, families and groups in mental health, hospice, hospital and university settings. I graduated from the University of Victoria with an MA in Educational Psychology in 2000, and obtained certification with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. Additionally, I hold membership with the Canadian Association for Child and Play Therapy and the Satir Institute and have completed training in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing & Crisis Response Planning; Reiki and Energy Healing. My (5) years as a sessional instructor and course author within the School of Child and Youth Care, and my career as a Child Life Specialist at VGH (17 years) has greatly informed my practice with individuals and families undergoing stress and change. I have over 10 years experience as an Employee and Family Assistance Program provider, as well as supporting individuals through the Crime Victim Assistance Program and WorkSafe.

On a personal note, I am married with children and grandchildren. I love to cook and enjoy walks by the ocean; reading, yoga and creating art through painting, sketching and pottery. I am nurtured by wonderful friendships and I am grateful for the opportunity to support others.
